Our Story
I began making low whistles here in Ireland out of a love for the sound and the tradition behind it. Every instrument is shaped by hand, tested note by note, and finished with care — no factories, no shortcuts, just honest craft.
That same spirit of tradition and innovation is what led to the creation of our newest design — the Low D Sax Whistle. With its unique bend, it brings the whistle closer to the player, making it easier and more comfortable to play, while keeping that rich Irish tone at its heart.
For me, it’s not just about making instruments. It’s about keeping the music alive — and giving players something new to explore while still carrying the voice of Ireland in every note.

Does all that it promised. Easy to play. Good across the range if the instrument. Fairly quiet which I like, because of neighbours. All in all, a good buy.

Very good, although I wish the songs came with the sheet music too 🎶🎵

I am verry happy with this flute, very well tuned, light, simple to clean up, perfect for me

I bought this as a gift for my son and he loves it! He has been playing it almost nonstop and it has a delightful mellow sound.

The stuff is good.
Thanks a lot James Dominic company
Looking forward to do business with you
Best regards
Mohamed

Although I have lots of experience with high whistles, this is my first low D. Heres what I found...
The build is really solid. The tuning is accurate. The mouthpiece is comfortable. The tone is lovely! The finger spacing is tough, but that's nothing to do with the design/build. It arrived in 8 days (from Ireland to California). It doesn't require a remarkable amount of air.
All in all, the quality of this instrument is very high, no doubt about it. And because it's at such an approachable price point, it allowed me, and hopefully others, to delve into low D whistle without breaking the bank.
I will be ordering my next James Dominic Whistle very soon!

Love the collection of Christmas songs for Tin Whistle.
Love it

I do not have any G whistles to compare with the Dominic whistle I received. Being a hobbyist, I do not feel qualified to give an assessment of the musical quality. That said, I do like the warm tone and ease of play. It plays like my high D whistles with enough spacing for a pipers grip like a bagpipe chanter. The sound is fantastic and the whistle is responsive beyond the speed I can play.
Right out of the tube, it is a pleasure to play. Good Work Jimmy and family!

I am a hobbyist and not a professional musician. Also, the only other low D whistle I have is a 15+ year old Howard. I find this low D takes a light amount of breath on the low octave and an easy amount on the second octave. The difference between the breath needed to pump up the tone to the next octave is enough that my lazy amount of breath control does not have me getting an unintentional jump in tone. The Dominic whistle sounds more mellow compared to my Howard. My Howard whistle takes a very careful amount of breath where the Dominic is more forgiving. Also, the steel tube Howard can be used as a club and is a bit heavy in the hands where the Dominic is light and easy to handle.
Good Work Jimmy and family!

I got fed up with contorted low D fingering to please a fiddler so got this bargain E to make life easier for those occasional tunes. It plays solid over 2 octaves with no cross over quirks noted as yet. Nice lines and easy to play with good volume. I got a bargain version as makers mark was not perfect and packing and delivery were all good.
In summary - well pleased

For the first time in my life I bought a Flute. After hearing many different low whistles I chose an James Dominic. It has a beautiful deep sound and a affordable price. So now I do practice every day to reach also the high notes. Although my upper hand is a bit overstretcht during playing I am really happy that I choose this Low Wistle.

I was quite happy to receive the whistle, I was really looking forward to it. The shipping time was very reasonable, the packaging was good and protective, and the whistle itself is quite nice. The tones it produces can range from a fairly soft, gentle tone to a loud, bright tone depending on the player's breath. I DID have to use some very very fine emery cloth to smooth off some rough edges on the metal fipple insert, but that was the only things required. It really cannot be overemphasized, for those new to low whistles, to practice the "piper's grip" with the somewhat larger holes than one is used to with higher key whistles. The low D, which was all the rage some years back, required not only the piper's grip, to seal the holes properly, but also a good bit of finger stretch; this one does not require any finger stretch, for an average to large hand, but again, it takes practice to seal the holes properly, lest you get a squeaky squeal which will annoy you and any small animal who hear it. So practice and practice, and you will enjoy this delightful instrument for many years to come.

Fun good quality whistle!!

Just as described and lovely sound quality.
