I wasn’t sure what to expect for such a low price. (£48 after discount) but was pleasantly surprised. The whistle is well in tune, with an accurate c natural using the usual cross- fingering. It is also well made.
It looks and feels good - in appearance, very similar to my MK Kelpie, but much quieter. ( which was one of the reasons I bought the JD) and approximately one third of the price! It does take a little getting used to as it requires more air and is quite breathy, particularly so if not given enough puff .The light weight is an advantage.
I bought the E whistle so I could play easily in A. I found my usual A whistle too overpowering when (eg) accompanying a singer. This is ideal for such a purpose, with its softer, mellow tones, though the whistle would be lost in a noisy session. Again, I appreciate the quieter tone as I can play later in the evening without disturbing my neighbours!
An excellent buy!
